PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Becca White (Natick, Mass.) led the women's cross country team for the fourth time in four races this season and the Bobcats finishes with 469 points and a 18th-place finish at the Princeton University Invitational. The two-time Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week this season, White crossed the finish line of the 6k event in 22:00. Columbia came away with the first-place result among the 25 competing teams with 83 points.
"The women ran very well again," said Quinnipiac women's cross country head coach Carolyn Martin. "The ladies know what they need to do and we are looking forward to some great races at the NEC Championship. Today we fought out there and had several great individual races."
Senior Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) chimed in with a 79th-place finish and second place on the team. Coming off a 42nd-place result at the New England Championships last week, Roche finished with a time of 23:12 and just ahead of the Bobcat's third-place finisher, freshman Medinah Nabadduka (Windsor, Conn.). In her debut season with Quinnipiac, Nabadduka finished a season-best third (104th overall) on the team with a finishing time of 23:33.
Several other veteran runners competed at the Princeton Invitational as the team prepares for the NEC Championship a mere two weeks away. Senior Rachel Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.) also finished with her best team-result of the 2012 season as she placed fourth on the team and 137th overall. She was not alone however as senior Hannah Donadio (Killingworth, Conn.) crossed the line at the exact same time as Morelli, 24:19.
The Bobcats will gain one week of rest before the NEC Championship meet set for Saturday, Oct. 27 hosted by Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I. Quinnipiac looks to claim its eight consecutive NEC crown as they won their seventh straight to finish the 2011 campaign.
