It's Good to be Home

The course begins alongside to the Quinnipiac Soccer Field and makes its way across the Mount Carmel campus quad and around other various Quinnipiac athletic fields.

Last Time Out

The Bobcats dominated the Shawn M. Nassaney Memorial Race hosted by Bryant University and finished 3rd out of 17 teams competing on Saturday Sep. 8. Senior Becca White placed 3rd overall as she finished with her highest result since the 2011 Stony Brook Invitational where she also took 3rd place. Junior Jessica Soja had a breakout performance with her 13th place finish, placing a career-best second on the team. Freshman Ashley Carle followed her 9th place finish at the Stony Brook Invitational with a 27th place finish at Bryant.

Senior Day

Seniors Becca White, Morgan Roche, Andrea Szarkowicz, Rachel Morelli, Kate Hammerton, and Hannah Donadio will all be taking part in their final home meet on Saturday and will be honored before the start of the women's event at 10:00 a.m. The career accomplishments of each runner cannot be understated and have proven to be a guiding light during the program's seven-year run as NEC Champions.

White Career Highlights

This program has featured numerous individual standouts in its history and Becca White can add her name to the list after a stellar career. This five-time Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week and seven-time NEC Athlete of the Week has put her immense talent on display since becoming a Bobcat in 2009. She posted an incredible record-breaking finishing time of 17:17.1 to win the 2010 NEC Championship and the Outstanding Performer of the Year in her sophomore season. Just last season she finished 8th at the New England Championships to earn her third straight All-New England honors.

Roche Career Highlights

Roche has been as consistent a runner as the Bobcats have ever seen. She dominated her freshman year, winning NEC Rookie of the Year including All-Conference and All-New England honors at times throughout the season. She placed third at the 2009 NEC Championships to give her another All-Conference selection to go along with another All-New England honor. Despite red-shirting her junior year, she came back with her third straight All-Conference appearance to help the Bobcats win a seventh straight NEC crown last season.

Szarkowicz Career Highlights

After not competing for cross country during her freshman year at Quinnipiac, Szarkowicz rushed onto the scene in her first race with a fourth place finish at the 2010 Stony Brook Invitational. She went on to finish 18th at the 2010 Northeast Conference Championship and carried that momentum into last season where she was named All-Conference as the 6th place finisher at the NEC Championship and was the fastest Bobcat runner in the NCAA Northeast Regionals that same year.

Morelli Career Highlights

After placing 37th in her first NEC Championship appearance in 2008, Morelli had to miss the entire 2009 season. Despite the setback, she has climbed her way back and now stands among the girls as one of the leaders and catalysts for this year's team.

Hammerton Career Highlights

Balancing the practices and races with the necessary responsibilities of a student-athlete can be daunting for any of my athletes, but no one did it better than Hammerton. Her job as an R.A. on-campus made it more different for her at times than anyone else on the team but throughout her four years she has been one of the team's hardest workers.

Donadio Career Highlights

Donadio has persevered despite injury and earned a spot on the roster through her hard work and dedication to the team. She finished 26th at the 2010 Quinnipiac Invitational and has been a valued member of this team for the past three seasons.

Next Time Out

The Bobcats will have their first week off thus far in the season as the women's cross country team will next travel to the Lehigh Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday Sep. 28 with the event starting at 10:00 a.m.
