White Named NEC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women’s cross country junior Becca White (Natick, Mass.) was named the Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Oct. 4. The weekly accolade is White’s first NEC honor of the 2011 season.
White receives the award after leading the Bobcats to a 25th place finish at the 38th Annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Friday, Sept. 30. Quinnipiac competed against a total of 46 teams in the Gold 6k Race.
The junior paced the Bobcats, for the second consecutive week, in a race which featured a total of 396 runners. White finished the 6k course in 55th place overall with a time of 21:35.
This week’s honor marks the sixth NEC Athlete of the Week title White has received in her cross country career. In addition, White was named NEC Women’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week five times as a freshman.
Quinnipiac returns to action when it competes at the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
