STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women’s cross country team ran at the Stony Brook Season Opener on Saturday morning. Junior Becca White (Natick, Mass.) was the Bobcats’ top finisher, placing third overall in 14:19. Stony Brook won the meet with 18 points, while Quinnipiac placed second with 41 points and CW Post took third with 85 points.
Fellow classmate Paige Pallotto (Woodbridge, Conn.) finished second for Quinnipiac and eighth overall with a time of 14:58. Sophomore Jessica Soja (Simsbury, Conn.) finished next with a time of 15:09, followed by junior Jill Humphreys (Burlington, Mass) in 15:21 and Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) in 15:22.
“I thought we had a great opener and saw a lot of solid performances,” said head coach Carolyn Martin. “We certainly are ready to go strong at the next couple of meets. I think today’s race was a great way to prepare us for what should be a successful season.”
The Bobcats return to action when they compete at the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 10 in Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
