BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Quinnipiac women’s cross country team placed 25th at the 38th Annual Paul Short Run at Lehigh University on Friday morning. The Bobcats competed against 45 collegiate teams in the Gold 6k Race and finished with a total of 743 points, while Providence College won the meet with 101 points. Junior Rebecca White (Natick, Mass.) paced Quinnipiac with a 55th-place finish in 21:35.
“It was a very competitive field in the women’s race,” said head coach Carolyn Martin. “A lot of teams we competed against are ranked nationally, so I thought we had a really great day. I think many of the women learned more about themselves and I’m hoping this will help us race better at the regional championships.”
Quinnipiac sophomores Amanda and Brianna Faust (Macungie, Pa.) finished in the 151st and 160th slots, respectively. Amanda Faust crossed the finish line in 22:44, while Brianna finished at 22:49. Junior Andrea Szarkowicz (Watertown, Conn.) placed 186th in 23:03, while senior Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) finished in the 191st position in 23:04.
Rounding out the scoring for Quinnipiac was sophomore Christina Faust (Macungie, Pa.) and junior Paige Pallotto (Westbrook, Conn.). Faust finished with a time of 23:28, followed by Pallotto in 23:38.
The Bobcats return to action when they run at the New England Championships on Oct. 8. At Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
