Women's Cross Country Places 20th At NCAA Regionals
MADISON, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University women's cross country team ended the 2010 season with a 20th place finish at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Div I Northeast Regionals meet on Saturday. The women's 6k race was hosted by Yale and Fairfield and was held at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Conn. at Noon.
"We had a great year, said Head Coach Carolyn Martin. "We've learned a lot from every meet we ran this year and I'm excited to see what the women can do in the future."
The Bobcats finished 20th out of 35 teams. Sophomore Becca White (Natick, Mass.) finished first for Quinnipiac and in 35th place overall with a time of 21:14.3. White was recently named Quinnipiac Female Athlete of the Month for November.
Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) finished next for the Bobcats with a time of 22:15.8, while her sister Brianna finished fourth for Quinnipiac in 22:39.3. Fifth-year graduate student Kristen Stevens (Succasunna, N.J.) crossed the finish line in 22:27.6 as the Bobcats' third runner. Katherine Beam (South Windsor, Conn.) finished fifth for Quinnipiac with a time of 22:30.9.
The Syracuse women's team placed first at Regionals with 78 points, while Stony Brook finished second with a score of 83 points. Both teams will compete at the NCAA Division I Championships on Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
