BOSTON - The Quinnipiac University women's cross country team finished 13th at Saturday afternoon's NCAA Northeast Regional hosted by Boston University. The Bobcats ended the meet with 439 team points on the 6K Franklin Park course. Sophomore Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) was Quinnipiac's top runner of the day, placing 52nd overall with a time of 23:29 in a field of 239 runners. Syracuse finished as the top team, scoring 59 points on the muddy and wet course.
"The women ran a solid race today," said head coach Carolyn Martin. "We were expecting a higher team finish this year, but the conditions did not favor us today. This program is moving in the right direction, and that can be seen in the fact that we finished one spot ahead of where we did last year."
Junior Kristen Stevens (Succasunna, N.J.) and freshman Becca White (Natick, Mass.) were the second and third Quinnipiac runners to finish the race on Saturday. Stevens placed 70th in 23:59, while White was 81st overall with a time of 24:12.
Sophomores Kaitlin Kelly (Weymouth, Mass.) and Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) were the fourth and fifth Bobcats to cross the line, rounding out the Quinnipiac scoring. Kelly was 104th overall in 24:30, while Lanning was not far back, placing 132nd with a time of 24:54.
