LEHIGH, Pa. - The Quinnipiac University women's cross country team finished 16th of 40 teams at the Paul Short Invitational. Freshman Becca White (Natick, Mass.) was the first Bobcat to finish as she crossed the line in 21:19, good for 35th overall. Quinnipiac finished with 503 total team points.
"I am pleased that the women went out strong and ready to run today," said head coach Carolyn Martin. "We ran well, but there is always going to be room for improvement. I know that we can use this performance today going forward this season."
Senior Kristen Stevens (Succasunna, N.J.) was the second Bobcat to finish. Stevens crossed the line in 21:31, good for 48th place. Sophomore Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) finished third for Quinnipiac in 119th-place in 22:07. Senior Lindsey Pierret (Morristown, N.J.) and sophomore Katie Kelly (Weymouth, Mass.) were the final two members of the team to finish in the scoring. Pierret's time of 22:16 placed her 136th, while Kelly crossed the line in 22:33 for 165th place.
Quinnipiac's next race is the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday, Oct. 10. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
