HAMDEN, Conn. - Women's cross country freshman runner Becca White (Natick, Mass.) was named the Road Runner Sports Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week. White ran to a sixth-place finish at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday with a time of 15:39. The race was the first of her collegiate career as White was the first Bobcat to finish the 4100-meter course. Long Island's Selina Munoz was named the Road Runner Sports NEC Athlete of the Week joining White with a weekly conference accolade.
"We are very pleased with Becca's performance," said assistant coach Roy Harrison. "She ran a very conservative race and showed a great deal of promise. This demonstrates a very good start to the season and of things to come."
The Bobcats return to action this weekend on Saturday, Sept. 12 as they travel to Hanover, N.H., to run in the Dartmouth College Invitational. The meet is set to begin at noon.
