HAMDEN, Conn. - For the fourth time this season, freshman runner Becca White (Natick, Mass.) of the Quinnipiac University women's cross country team was named the Road Runner Sports Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week. White was honored after finishing 19th at the New England Championships Saturday in Boston's Franklin Park with a time of 18:23.
"Becca (White) has been an asset to the team with her work ethic and racing effort," said head coach Carolyn Martin. "She is a very confident racer that knows how to execute a race plan."
White finished the meet as the second Quinnipiac runner, two seconds back of sophomore Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.). This is the second week in a row that White has been honored as the top rookie in the NEC. Last week, White was honored as both the NEC Athlete and Rookie of the Week. Over the course of the season, she has been named the conference's top rookie on four occasions, while also being tabbed as the week's top runner twice.
The Bobcats will run in their final regular-season race before the NEC Championships when they travel to New Britain, Conn., to compete in the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Saturday, Oct. 24. The race is set to begin at 12 p.m.
