EASTON,
Pa. - Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) had a double-double of 13
kills and 10 digs and Kayla Lawler (Louisville, Ky.) added 44
assists, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was edged by
Delaware State, 3-2, Friday afternoon in opening round action at
the Lafayette Invitational. The teams alternated set wins
throughout the match, with the Hornets taking the first (25-17),
third (25-17) and fifth (15-8), while the Bobcats won the second
(25-20) and fourth (25-19) sets. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to
1-9, while the Hornets improve to 3-8.
Volleyball Edged By Delaware State, 3-2
Amanda Armstrong (Waukesha, Wis.) contributed 11 kills for Quinnipiac, while Stephanie Biediger (Houston, Texas) narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and 10 digs. Logan Riker had a team-high 24 digs for Quinnipiac.
Elisa Herman led Delaware State with a match-high 17 kills, while Sonja Banicevic had a match-high 30 digs. Ashley Herman and Brook Redmon had five blocks apiece for the Hornets.
The Bobcats return to Lafayette Invitational action Saturday, when they face the host Leopards (10 a.m.) and La Salle (3 p.m.) at the Kirby Sports Center.
