Volleyball Falls To Yale, Stony Brook

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Logan Riker (Bowling Green, Ohio) had 12 kills and 12 digs on the day, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Yale and Stony Brook, both by 3-0 margins, to conclude action in the Yale Invitational Saturday at John J. Lee Amphitheater. With the losses, the Bobcats fall to 0-6, while the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 and the Seawolves moved to 1-6. After finishing the three-match tournament with 12 kills and 28 digs, Riker was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In the first match against Yale, Amanda Armstrong (Waukesha, Wis.) had five kills and Kayla Lawler (Louisville, Ky.) had 13 assists. Yale took the first set, 25-17, before winning the second, 25-7, and the third, 25-22. Riker had a team-high seven digs, while Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) and Tracey Wright (Fair Lawn, N.J.) were right behind Riker with six digs apiece.

Against Stony Brook, Riker led the way with 10 kills and five digs, while Wright had a team-best 13 digs. Carey also added six kills and five digs. The Seawolves won the match in straight sets, 25-18, 25-21, 25-20.

The Bobcats return to action Friday, when they play host to the Quinnipiac Invitational. After Dartmouth and Hartford get things started on Friday at 4:30 p.m., the Bobcats will entertain St. Peter's at 7 p.m. The Bobcats then face Dartmouth and Hartford, Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
