WORCESTER, Mass. -
Quinnipiac University volleyball newcomers Amanda Armstrong
(Waukesha, Wis.) and Tracey Wright (Fair Lawn, N.J.) had 11 kills
and 12 digs, respectively, but the Bobcats were defeated by Holy
Cross, 3-0, in their season opener Friday afternoon at Holy Cross
Field House. The Crusaders sandwiched a pair of 25-20 set wins
around a 25-23 victory in the second set to secure the victory. The
win was the second of the day for the Crusaders (2-0) following a
season-opening win over Boston College, while the Bobcats fall to
0-1.
Volleyball Falls In Season Opener To Holy Cross, 3-0
Armstrong hit .455 on the afternoon, while Taylor Payne (Warwick, N.Y.) hit a team-best .500 en route to 10 kills. Kayla Lawler (Louisville, Ky.) added 28 assists for the Bobcats, while Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) had 10 digs for Quinnipiac.
Megan Lynch led Holy Cross with 14 kills and 11 digs, while Chelsey O'Donnell had 29 assists.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when they continue action in the Beanpot Classic, being played at Boston College's Power Gym. Quinnipiac faces Fordham at 2:30 p.m., before taking on the host Eagles at 7 p.m.
