Volleyball Comes From Behind To Defeat Saint Francis (Pa.), 3-2, On Senior Day

HAMDEN, Conn. - Sophomore Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) tied her career-high with 24 kills while also adding a career-high 21 digs as the Quinnipiac University volleyball team came from behind to defeat Saint Francis (Pa.), 3-2, on Senior Day Sunday afternoon at the Burt Kahn Court. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 4-25 (3-13 NEC), while the Red Flash falls to 7-25 (4-12 NEC). The double-double was Carey's 12th of the season, and her first 20-20 performance.

"After the first two sets, it would have been easy to hang our heads. But, the team stayed calm and focused. It was fantastic to see them put together three solid sets in a row. This match epitomized the hard work and dedication that this team has shown all year. I couldn't be prouder of them," said Quinnipiac Head Coach Robin Sparks.

After falling behind, 2-0, through two sets, the Bobcats regrouped to win the final three sets. Saint Francis took the first two sets, 25-23 and 29-27, respectively, before Quinnipiac won the final three sets, 25-21, 25-19 and 15-11.

Chelsey Pachoud (Riverview, Fla.) and Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) also added a double-doubles. Pachoud tallied 14 kills and 12 digs, while Lawler had a team-high 42 assists and 16 digs. Logan Riker (Bowling Green, Ohio) had a career-high 25 digs. Senior Erin Overdevest (Bridgeton, N.J.) finished her career with 10 digs, while Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) added 10 kills. Taylor Payne (Warwick, N.Y.) added eight kills and four blocks.
