LORETTO, Pa. - Sophomore Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) compiled 13 kills, 15 digs and five blocks, while freshman Logan Riker (Bowling Green, Ohio) tallied a career-high 24 digs, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Saint Francis (Pa.), 3-1, Sunday afternoon at DeGol Arena. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-17 (1-5 NEC), while the Red Flash improves to 4-14 (1-1 NEC). Carey's double-double was her fifth of the season.
Sophomore Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) had 24 assists and 11 digs to compile her first double-double of the season. Sophomore Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) tied Carey for the team lead in blocks with five. The Bobcats collectively finished with a season-high 11 blocks, five more than their previous match high. Freshman Chelsey Pachoud (Riverview, Fla.) also reached double-digit digs with 10.
The Bobcats jumped out to a lead with a first-set win, 25-18. But the Red Flash won the next three sets, 25-17, 25-23 and 25-18, respectively, to clinch the match.
The Bobcats return to action Friday when they travel to Brooklyn Heights, N.Y., to take on St. Francis (N.Y.). First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Peter Aquilone Court.
