Volleyball Falls To Binghamton, 3-1

HAMDEN, Conn. - Freshman Chelsey Pachoud (Riverview, Fla.) compiled a team-high 11 kills, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team fell to Binghamton, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Burt Kahn Court. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-14, while the Bearcats improve to 7-8.

Sophomore Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) tallied 10 kills and eight digs, falling two digs short of compiling her fourth consecutive double-double. Freshman Logan Riker (Bowling Green, Ohio) and graduate student Erin Overdevest (Bridgeton, N.J.) led the defense with 13 and 12 digs, respectively, while sophomore Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) and freshman Taylor Payne (Warwick, N.Y.) had three blocks apiece.

Sophomore Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) contributed 29 assists, while Naylor finished with seven kills while hitting a team-high .292.

Binghamton was led by Michelle McDonough and Anna Lejina, who compiled 22 and 19 kills, respectively. Lindsey Mueller finished with 46 assists, while Dawn Lammert (14), Brianna Strong (12) and Elana King (11) all contributed double-digit digs. Mueller and Lammert also had three blocks each.

After Binghamton took the first set, 25-19, the Bobcats hit .400 to take the second set, 25-15. But Binghamton came out of the locker room refreshed to take the final two sets, 25-14 and 25-15.

The Bobcats return to Northeast Conference action Thursday at 8 p.m., when they travel to Brooklyn, N.Y., to take on Long Island at the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center.
