NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophomore Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) compiled a double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Yale, 3-0, Saturday at the John J. Lee Amphitheater. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-12, while the Bulldogs improve to 9-1.
Sophomore Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) contributed a match-high 25 assists, while freshman Logan Riker (Bowling Green, Ohio) had a match-high 18 digs. Graduate student Erin Overdevest (Bridgeton, N.J.) also reached double digits in digs with 10, while sophomore Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) narrowly missed double digits in kills with nine.
Yale was led by Alexis Crusey, whose team-high 11 kills as well as 11 digs gave her a double-double. Crusey and Haley Wessels had three blocks each, while Katie Cordell had a team-high 14 digs. Kerry Clavadetscher and Kate Parker split setter duties with 18 and 12 assists, respectively.
The Yale attack got more and more potent as the match progressed, as the Bulldogs took the three sets by margins of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-16
The Bobcats continue Saturday action at 7 p.m., when they welcome intrastate Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut to the Burt Kahn Court.
