MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. Freshman Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) tallied eight kills, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Northeast Conference front-runner Robert Morris, 3-0, Saturday afternoon. Fellow first-year player Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) had 22 assists for the Bobcats, who fall to 5-29 (2-5 NEC). With the win, the Colonials clinched the top seed in the NEC Tournament and at least a share of the NEC Regular Season Championship with a record of 18-9 overall (7-0 NEC).
Freshman Kelby Carey (Surfside Colony, Calif.) had a team-high seven digs, while senior Jenna Benigno (Milford, Conn.), freshman Shelagh Dolan (Westford, Mass.) and Naylor each played a part in two blocks.
The Colonials took the first set, 25-18, before winning the second, 25-14. Robert Morris clinched the match with a 25-17 win in the third.
The Bobcats conclude the 2008 campaign Sunday at Saint Francis (Pa.). The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Loretto, Pa.
