Volleyball Plays Host To La Salle Wednesday

Exploring Hamden

The La Salle University Explorers visit the Burt Kahn Court for a non-conference match Wednesday. The Bobcats are coming off their first Northeast Conference victory, a 3-0 sweep at Wagner on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Explorers also defeated the Seahawks for their last win, a 3-2 decision on Oct. 7. La Salle has dropped seven straight matches.

Staten Island Sweep

The Bobcats swept Wagner for their first Northeast Conference win of the season. Jenna Benigno tallied a team-high 11 kills, while Shelagh Dolan had a hand in each of the Bobcats five blocks. Kayla Lawler had 28 assists, while Crista Valentino's 13 digs led Quinnipiac.

Scouting the La Salle Explorers

Senior outside hitter Jackie Kushman leads the Explorers with 200 kills and 297 digs, while freshman Kourtney Clark and sophomore Carly Conlon have split time at setter with 382 and 333 assists, respectively. Senior middle hitter Christa Dominick paces the Explorers with 61 blocks.

Specialty Stats

Freshmen Shelagh Dolan, Kayla Lawler, Alyssa Naylor and Stephanie Biediger comprise a dynamic group that leads the Bobcats in blocks, assists, hitting percentage and kills, respectively. Dolan has a team-high 55 blocks, while Lawler has contributed 784 assists.Naylor has a team-high .306 hitting percentage for the season, while Biediger's 214 kills are a team best.

On Deck

The Bobcats return to action this weekend when they travel to Providence, R.I., Saturday for a 1 p.m. non-conference match-up with the Friars, before resuming NEC play, Sunday, against St. Francis (N.Y.). As the last home match of the season, Quinnipiac will honor its two-member senior class prior to the 1 p.m. start of play.
