Central Connecticut Defeats Volleyball, 3-1, On Dig Pink Night

HAMDEN, Conn. – Stephanie Biediger (Houston, Texas) had 12 kills and Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) added 36 assists, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Central Connecticut, 3-1, Friday night at the Burt Kahn Court. The match was held in conjunction with "Dig Pink," a Side-Out Foundation initiative to raise money for breast cancer research and create awareness of the disease. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-23 (0-3 NEC), while the Blue Devils improve to 7-11 (2-1 NEC).

Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) contributed 11 kills, while Kelby Carey (Surfside Colony, Calif.) had a team-high 13 digs. Crista Valentino (Oakdale, N.Y.) added 12 digs, while Shelagh Dolan (Westford, Mass.) had a team-high two blocks.

After the Blue Devils took the first set, 25-11, Quinnipiac stormed back with a 25-19 second-set victory. A tough-fought third set was taken by Central Connecticut, 25-22, before the Blue Devils took the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when they play host to another intrastate Northeast Conference foe, Sacred Heart. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Burt Kahn Court.
