Central Connecticut Defeats Volleyball, 3-1, On Dig Pink Night
HAMDEN, Conn. Stephanie Biediger (Houston, Texas) had 12 kills and Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) added 36 assists, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Central Connecticut, 3-1, Friday night at the Burt Kahn Court. The match was held in conjunction with "Dig Pink," a Side-Out Foundation initiative to raise money for breast cancer research and create awareness of the disease. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-23 (0-3 NEC), while the Blue Devils improve to 7-11 (2-1 NEC).
Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) contributed 11 kills, while Kelby Carey (Surfside Colony, Calif.) had a team-high 13 digs. Crista Valentino (Oakdale, N.Y.) added 12 digs, while Shelagh Dolan (Westford, Mass.) had a team-high two blocks.
After the Blue Devils took the first set, 25-11, Quinnipiac stormed back with a 25-19 second-set victory. A tough-fought third set was taken by Central Connecticut, 25-22, before the Blue Devils took the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when they play host to another intrastate Northeast Conference foe, Sacred Heart. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Burt Kahn Court.
