Volleyball Hosts Dig Pink, Intrastate NEC Foes This Weekend

Conference Slate Continues

The Quinnipiac volleyball team continues Northeast Conference competition this weekend, when the Bobcats welcome intrastate foes Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart to the Burt Kahn Court.

Dig Pink

The Bobcats will host "Dig Pink," at its Oct. 24 home match against Central Connecticut to raise funds for breast cancer research and create awareness of the disease. Working in conjunction with each other, the Bobcats and Blue Devils have set a goal of raising $5,000 for The Side-Out Foundation.

Live Audio and Live Stats Available

Live audio and live stats will be available for both of this weekend's matches. WQAQ, in association with the Bobcats Sports Network, will broadcast the matches. Taking ‘Em To The Limit

The Bobcats forced a fifth set in their conference opener at Fairleigh Dickinson. The Knights ultimately won the fifth set, 15-12.

Scouting the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils

Sophomore Lauren Snyder leads the Blue Devils with 220 kills, while sophomore Amanda Bayer has a team-best 537 assists. Junior Jamie Baumert's 65 blocks and sophomore Kaitlin Petrella's 215 digs lead Central Connecticut.

Scouting the Sacred Heart Pioneers

Freshman Maile Hetherington (273 kills) leads a balanced attack that features three hitters with over 200 kills. Sophomore setter Courtney Kidd-Kadlubek has run the offense effectively with 746 assists, while sophomore Mydori Saipale and junior Annie Archer are tied for the team lead with 40 blocks apiece. Meanwhile, freshman Jessica Colberg's 290 digs lead Sacred Heart.

Set and Spike

Lawler and freshman middle hitter Alyssa Naylor lead the Bobcats in assists and kills, respectively, to create a young, dynamic duo. Lawler has contributed 635 assists, while Naylor has a team-high 177 kills, including a 2.06 kills per set clip. Naylor has hit .307 for the season, while also leading Quinnipiac in blocks with 48.

On Deck

The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, Oct. 29, when they travel to Loudonville, N.Y., to take on Siena in a non-conference match. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
