Volleyball Falls To Bryant, 3-1

HAMDEN, Conn. – Freshman Stephanie Biediger (Houston, Texas) had a career-high 15 kills to go along with 15 digs, but the Quinnipiac volleyball team was defeated by Bryant, 3-1, Wednesday night at the Burt Kahn Court. Freshman Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) contributed a career-high 41 assists, while fellow first-year player Kelby Carey (Surfside Colony, Calif.) compiled a double-double of 11 kills and 13 digs. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-20, while the Bulldogs improve to 13-8.

Senior Jenna Benigno (Milford, Conn.) narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and 12 digs. Freshman Shelagh Dolan (Westford, Mass.) had a team-high three blocks, while senior Crista Valentino (Oakdale, N.Y.) also contributed 15 digs.

The Bobcats were one point away from victory in each of the first two sets, but the Bulldogs came from behind to take each stanza, 26-24 in the first and 28-26 in the second. Quinnipiac put the Bulldogs away in the third, 25-22. Bryant took control early in the fourth set and held on for a 25-15 victory.

The Bobcats return to action, Oct. 18, when they open Northeast Conference play at Fairleigh Dickinson. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at the Rothman Center.
