WEST HARTFORD, Conn. The Quinnipiac University volleyball team fell to intrastate foe Hartford, 3-1, Tuesday night at the Hartford Volleyball Gym. Kelby Carey (Surfside Colony, Calif.) led the Bobcats with 11 kills, while Stephanie Biediger (Houston, Texas) added 10. Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) posted double-figures in assists (31) and digs (12). Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) had eight kills while posting team-highs in hitting percentage (.273) and blocks (4).
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-7, while the Hawks improve to 2-5. Trailing two sets to one, the Bobcats led, 23-21, late in the fourth stanza. But the Hawks reeled off four straight points to end the match.
The Hawks took the first set, 25-22, before the Bobcats earned a 26-24 win in the second. Hartford then won the third, 25-18, before taking the decisive fourth set.
The Bobcats return to action Friday, when they begin play in the Lehigh-Lafayette Crosstown Tournament. Quinnipiac plays Lehigh, Friday, before taking on Columbia and Lafayette, Saturday.
