Women's Outdoor Track Runs At UMass Invitational
Amherst, Ma. - The Quinnipiac University women's outdoor track team
competed at the Massachusetts Invitational on Saturday, April 9.
The Bobcats were led by sophomore Andrea
Szarkowicz (Watertown, Conn.), who placed third in the
"I thought we had a great day," said Quinnipiac Head Coach Carolyn
Martin. "Everyone was really positive and I think it proved how
far a positive mindset can take them. It was exciting to see the
ladies run faster times and I think we're going to take this
momentum and hit a lot of personal and season bests this year."
Quinnipiac's Szarkowicz set a personal record, as she finished the
3,000-meter steeplechase in third place with a time of 11.15.84.
The Bobcats also saw strong performances in the 1,500-meter run as
White (Natick, Mass.) placed fifth in 4:38.85 and Kristen
Stevens (Succasunna, N.J.) finished in sixth with a time of
4.39.16. In addition, Morgan
Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) ran the 1,500 meters in 4:43.65 in
12th place overall, while Julie
Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) and Martha
Santandreu (Hamburg, N.Y.) each ran personal bests in the
Quinnipiac had three runners place in the top 15 of the 800-meter
run. The Bobcats' Hannah
Donadio (Killingworth, Conn.) placed ninth with a time of
2:19.29, while Alexandra
Seitz (Annandale, N.J.) and White finished in 14th
and 15th place, respectively.
Quinnipiac freshman Amanda
Faust (Macungie, Pa.) ran a personal best in the 5,000-meter
run, as she placed sixth in 17:15.03. Paige
Pallotto (Westbrook, Conn.) placed 14th in the 5k in
18:30.91. Lastly, the Bobcats' Kaitlyn
Flynn (New Milford, Conn.) set a Quinnipiac record as she
cleared 4' 9" (1.45 meters) in the high jump.
The Bobcats return to action when they run at the Brown
Invitational on Saturday, April 16 in Providence, R.I.
