LANDOVER, Md. – A pair of Bobcats in senior Becca White (Natick, Mass.) and junior Brianna Faust (Macungie, Pa.) placed for Quinnipiac women's indoor track in the 3000m while an astonishing three Bobcat qualified for the one mile run finals after Day 1 of the Northeast Conference Championship. Quinnipiac currently sits sixth in the points standings with 10 after four events wrapped up on Saturday while defending champion Monmouth currently leads with 42.5 points.

"We had a great first day," said Quinnipiac women's indoor track head coach Carolyn Martin. "We have many people going into finals tomorrow and are very excited to see how things will turn out."

Leading Quinnipiac on Saturday was the pairing of White and Faust who finished second and seventh, respectively, in the 3000m finals. White's finishing time of 9:56.36 was under the ECAC Championship qualifying time of 9:58.94, meaning she will run in the 3000m for the Bobcats in March. Faust was not far behind with a 10:15.89 to earn her seventh place finish and two points for Quinnipiac. With White earning eight points, the Bobcats took 10 total from the 3000m event.

The one mile run prelims on Saturday also was a strong spot for Quinnipiac as three Bobcats will head into the finals tomorrow. Senior Rachel Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the highest finisher in the prelims with a time of 5:08.86 for a fourth place result while junior Jessica Soja (Simsbury, Conn.) was right behind her with 5:09.04 to earn a fifth place finish. The third qualifier for the finals was freshman Tracy Campbell (Wall Township, N.J.) who stretched for a 5:10.17 time in the prelims for a seventh place finish and spot in the finals.

One of the individual highlights of the afternoon for Quinnipiac was the performance of Samuels. She reeled off a second place finish in the 400m prelims with a time of 58.37 seconds to make her one of the nine qualifiers for the 400m finals tomorrow. The second place result matched White for the highest placing Bobcat on the afternoon and gives the Bobcats momentum heading into the 400m finals on Sunday.

The 500m also went well for Quinnipiac as sophomore Rebecca Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) crossed the line in fifth position with a time of 1:18.76 to qualify for the finals.

Another impressive prelim run came from freshman Chelsea Savage (Pembroke, Mass.) who earned a spot in the finals of the 800m with a time of 2:20.88. Fellow freshmen teammates Katy Petrie (Cranston, R.I.) and Medinah Nabadduka (Windsor, Conn.) just missed out on a spot alongside Savage in the finals as the pair finished in 2:21.28, tied for 10th position and less than one tenth of a second behind the ninth place runner.

Freshman Alea Simons (Piscataway, N.J.) earned a spot in the 60m semifinals after burning through the prelim round with a time of 7.96 seconds, just one tenth off from matching her school record established last week at the Dartmouth Classic. Her semifinal result was not far off her first time at 7.98 seconds but wasn't good enough to advance to the finals as her run ended in 13th place.

The Bobcats kept their amazing run of breaking school records going on Saturday as junior Samantha Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) came through with a jump of 1.57 meters to break her previous program record established earlier this year at 1.55 meters. Her mark was good for 10th place overall and represents the 15th time a program record has been broken this year by the Bobcats.
