KINGSTON, R.I. – After over a month off, the Quinnipiac women's indoor track picked up right where it left off breaking another school record in the high jump on Friday afternoon from the University of Rhode Island at the Go Rhody Invitational. Junior Sam Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) established a new program record in the event with a height of 5'1 (1.55 meters) to headline the Quinnipiac contingent.
"I'm happy the girls are back on campus after the break and it's great to see us break another record today," said Quinnipiac women's indoor track head coach Carolyn Martin. "The girls are all working together and we need to continue to work hard. There is still room for improvement but overall I'm pleased with our effort today."
Sam Stabile's record breaking day continues the Bobcat's impressive run as the team now has broken nine school records, all in different events, through three meets to start the season.
Quinnipiac also showed well in the 800m as three of the top four finishers were Bobcats. Freshman Rebecca Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) claimed first place in the event with a time of 2:22.05 while senior Rachel Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.) took second place at 2:22.97 and Sam Stabile crossed the line in 2:25.86 which was good for fourth place.
Freshman Kristen Ulrich (Clark, N.J.) posted an impressive second place finish in her season debut in the 400m. The rookie finished the event in 60.57 seconds, just a little over one second behind the first place finisher.
Several other individual standouts included freshman Medinah Nabadduka (Windsor, Conn.) who placed fourth in the 1000m with 3:06.69. Senior Becca White (Natick, Mass.) showed well with a time of 5:06.10 in the one mile event and junior Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) posted 10:25.21 in the 3000m which was good for a second place showing.
The Bobcats will look to continue their breakout season at the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University of Albany on Friday Jan. 18, 2013 starting at 12:30 pm.
