BOSTON, Mass. - Sophomore Becca White (Natick, Mass.) placed
second in the 5k as the Quinnipiac University women's indoor track
team competed at the New England Championships at Boston University
Friday afternoon.
White ran the 5k in a season-best time of 17:27, which qualifies
her for the ECAC Championships next weekend.
The Bobcats' Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) and Martha Santandreu
(Hamburg, N.Y.) ran personal-best times in the 5k unseeded-heats.
Faust won her heat and placed ninth overall with a time of
17:58.78, while Santandreu finished in 18:27.56. In addition,
Hannah Donadio (Killingworth, Conn.) ran a season-best in the
800-meter run, with a time of 2:20.58. Jill Humphrey (Burlington,
Conn.) participated in the 1,000-meter run, where she crossed the
finish line in 3:10, her best time this season.
Quinnipiac's distance medley relay team placed ninth in their
seeded heat. Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.), Alexandra Seitz
(Annandale, N.J.), Rachel Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Brianna
Faust (Macungie, Pa.) finished the relay in 12:33.57.
"I was very pleased with the girls' times today," said Head Coach
Carolyn Martin. "The girls are really coming through at the end of
the season and it's a positive way to transition into the outdoor
season. The team is peaking at the right time and I'm excited to
take this group of girls into next season."
The Bobcats will compete in the second day of the New England
Championships tomorrow, Feb. 26. Lanning will run in the one mile,
while Brianna Faust, Paige Pallotto (Westbrook, Conn.) and
Christina Faust (Macungie, Pa.) will represent Quinnipiac in the
3,000-meter run. Quinnipiac will also participate in the
4x800-meter relay.
