LANDOVER,
Md. - The Quinnipiac University women's indoor track team competed
in the first day of the Northeast Conference Indoor Track and Field
Championships, Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Prince George's County
Sports Complex. After day one, the Bobcats are currently sixth,
with nine points, while Monmouth finds itself in first place with
37 points.
The Bobcats' performances were highlighted in the 3,000-meter run,
where the event saw three Quinnipiac runners place. Sophomore
Rebecca White (Natick, Mass.) was first for Quinnipiac and third
overall with a time of 10:20.76. Senior Kristen Stevens
(Succasunna, N.J.) and freshman Brianna Faust (Macungie, Pa.)
finished back-to-back, in seventh and eighth place, respectively.
Stevens crossed the finish line in 10:29.76, while Faust ran the 3k
in 10:31.71. In addition, Faust also represented the Bobcats in the
one-mile run.
Also, running in the one-mile, was junior Julie Lanning (Victor,
N.Y.), who placed 12th in the preliminaries with a time
of 5:20.16.
Junior Hannah Donadio (Killingworth, Conn.) and sophomore
Alexandra Seitz (Annandale, N.J.) were the top-two Bobcats to
finish the 800-meter run. Donadio placed 20th in the
preliminaries in 2:25.64, while Seitz finished right after her at
2:25.87.
"It was great to see three-of-four runners place in the
3,000-meter," said Quinnipiac Head Coach Carolyn Martin. "The women
did a great job, even in the unseeded events. I'm really looking
forward to seeing the team run tomorrow and score more points."
The Bobcats will run in the final day of the NEC Championships on
Sunday, Feb. 13. The Bobcats' Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.), Martha
Santandreu (Hamburg, N.Y.), Paige Pallotto (Westbrook, Conn.), and
Kelly Newcomb (Toms River, N.J.), will participate in the
5,000-meter run. In addition, the team will compete in the Distance
Medley Relay.
