Women's Indoor Track Competes At The University of Rhode Island Invitational
Kingston, R.I. - The Quinnipiac University women's indoor track
team competed at the University of Rhode Island Invitational at the
Mack Field House in Kingston, R.I. on Saturday, Jan. 22.
For the first time in Quinnipiac history, the team participated in
the 55-meter hurdles. Janet Dempsey (Hanson, Mass.) finished in
sixth place in 10.30 seconds, while Grace Harvey (Clinton, N.J.)
crossed the finish line in 10.63.
Julie
Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 1000-meter run with
a time of 3:09.53. In addition, Rebecca Smith (Hardyston, N.J.) ran
the race in 3:14.97, for a sixth place finish.
Brianna Faust (Macungie, Pa.) finished in 11
th place in
a competitive one-mile race, with a time of 5:19.15, while Becca
White (Natick, Mass.) placed sixth in the 3k, in 10:24.95. Hannah
Donadio (Killingworth, Conn.) ran the 500-meter run in 1:22.74
for eighth place.
"We had a very tough week of training this week," said Quinnipiac
Head Coach Carolyn
Martin. "We ran tired, but did a great job staying positive. We
expect to see faster times in the next few weeks."
Quinnipiac returns to action when it takes part in the Terrier
Invitational at Boston University on Friday, Jan. 28.
