BOSTON - The Quinnipiac University women's indoor track team ran in the final day of the 2010 New England Championships Saturday afternoon at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center. The meet was highlighted by the personal-best time of sophomore Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) in the mile race. Roche crossed the line in 4:59.45, good for 10th overall in the event.
"I was thrilled with all the personal bests and a school record today," Head Coach Carolyn Martin said. "The team ran like they understood that this was a championship meet. I cannot wait to get out and run in the outdoor season."
Sophomore Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) also ran in the mile race along with Roche. Lanning posted a time of 5:24.24 in the event.
The 4x400-meter relay team posted a school record on Saturday. The four runners set a Quinnipiac record by finishing in 4:10.78. Freshman Grace Harvey (Clinton, N.J.), sophomore Jeana Favat (Gibbsboro, N.J.) and juniors Nicole Payne (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Amanda Duggan (Waldwick, N.J.) were the four runners who combined to post the program's top time in the event.
In the 3000 meters, sophomores Becca White (Natick, Mass.) and Katie Beam (South Windsor, Conn.) earned the Bobcats' top times. White set a personal-best time in the 3K, crossing the line fourth overall in 9:53.88. Beam finished with a time of 10:37.78.
Only Roche and White will run in next weekend's ECAC Championships. The meet will also be held at the Track & Tennis Center at Boston University. Roche will run in the 3K, while White qualified in both the 3K and 5K races. The two Quinnipiac runners will compete on Friday, Mar. 6.
