KINGSTON, R.I. - The Quinnipiac University women's indoor track team ran at the Sorlien Invitational hosted by the University of Rhode Island Friday afternoon. Freshman Becca White (Natick, Mass.) highlighted the meet for the Bobcats with a first-place finish in the 3,000-meter race. White crossed the line in 10:21.27 for first overall in a field of 17 runners. The meet was just the third of the season for Quinnipiac and the first not held at Yale's Coxe Cage.
"I think that we had a strong day after a really tough week of practice," said Head Coach Carolyn Martin. "I know that this team is capable of making great strides and improvements as we continue to move forward this season."
Sophomore Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) was Quinnipiac's top runner in the mile, a race that saw three Bobcats place in the top six positions. Roche crossed the line with a time of 5:10.08, good for second. Sophomore Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) was fifth with a time of 5:22.31, while fellow sophomore Katie Beam (South Windsor, Conn.) was sixth in 5:25.19.
Freshman Alexandra Seitz (Annendale, N.J.) posted a career-best time in the 400 meters, crossing the line in 1:05.08. Sophomore Hannah Donadio (Killingworth, Conn.) finished the 1000-meter race in 3:07.51 for seventh overall.
Quinnipiac's 4x800-meter relay team finished second overall on Friday. The four athletes comprising the team were Donadio, Lanning, Roche and freshman Rebecca Smith (Hardyston, N.J.).
