Quinnipiac Women’s Tennis Featured on WTNH SportzEdge

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University women's tennis team's success hasn't gone unnoticed around the area. The Bobcats were recently featured on WTNH SportzEdge in a story that highlights their 2014 MAAC Championship and their upcoming quest for the NCAA Championship. Earlier in the week, SportzEdge host Erika Wachter came to Quinnipiac to discuss the season with members of the team.

Quinnipiac drew nationally-ranked No. 9 Stanford University (16-2, 8-2 PAC 12) and will head across the country for the first round on Friday, May 9, 2014 – hosted by the Cardinal at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium. The Bobcats are coming off of their seventh Division I Conference Championship after defeating Fairfield by a score of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. Quinnipiac captured the MAAC's automatic bid and will make its first appearance to the big dance since 2011. Nothing new for the Bobcats, Quinnipiac has made the trek out to Stanford in two of its seven NCAA appearances. QU has faced UCLA (2011), the University of Georgia (2005), UCLA (2007) and Miami (Fla.) (2008) in its other NCAA tournament bids.

Stanford was awarded the No. 11 overall seed in the postseason draw and will host the four-team bracket for the weekend. Tulsa and Long Beach State will meet in the first match at 11 a.m., followed by Stanford and Quinnipiac at 2 p.m. The winners of the two matches will square off in the second round on Saturday, May 10 at 1 p.m.
