EDISON, N.J. – Quinnipiac junior Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) has put together a fine stretch of tennis over the past few weeks, and was rewarded for her efforts by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Raynor was tabbed MAAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week after helping the Bobcats to a 2-0 record against two conference opponents.
Raynor extended her winning streak to seven straight at singles and 13 straight at doubles with a 3-0 record in last week's competition. Raynor defeated Monmouth's Ashley Sandler in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2 on Thursday; and followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Manhattan's Gabriella Leon to help Quinnipiac clinch the MAAC Regular-Season Title on Tuesday. Quinnipiac defeated Monmouth, 7-0, and Manhattan, 4-0.
Raynor improved to 117-56 for her career, which has her ranked 14th on Quinnipiac's all-time list. She also picked up her 40th win of the season and moved into a tie for eighth place for most wins in a single-season at QU. She is 17-10 in singles this year and 23-6 in doubles.
The Bobcats clinched the top seed for the upcoming MAAC Championships, which is set to begin on Saturday, April 26, 2014. The Bobcats will take on fourth-seeded Marist at the Mercy County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J. In the other semifinal, second-seeded Fairfield will take on third-seeded Niagara at the same time. Both matches are scheduled for 2 p.m.
