Women’s Tennis Edged By Creighton, 4-3

ORLANDO, Fla. – Senior Mary Chupa (Bradenton, Fla.) and junior Ariana Launie (Milton, Mass.) each won their respective matches on Tuesday afternoon, but the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team couldn't find the deciding point in a 4-3 loss to Creighton University in Orlando.

Quinnipiac hung tough with the BIG EAST foe, collecting two points in singles and the doubles' point as well. However, wins at Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 6 solidified the fifth win of the season for the Bluejays. Quinnipiac fell to 2-7 overall and 0-2 on its annual Spring Break trip.

Chupa secured a point at No. 4 singles with a straight-set triumph (7-5, 6-3) over Amanda Noonan, and Launie battled back from a one-set deficit to defeat Sam Anderson, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 for Quinnipiac's third point. Unfortunately, that's as close as they'd come. Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Fla.) surrendered a tough, two-set loss (7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) to Jays' ace, Jennie Hartjes.

Doubles took place after the match had been decided, and Quinnipiac held serve as per usual. Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, N.J.) and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) won their second straight match when paired together with an 8-4 win at No. 2, and Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta) and Launie accomplished the same feat with an 8-4 win at No. 3.
