Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Fairfield, 6-1

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Senior Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) upped her career win total to 130 on Thursday afternoon, as the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team earned its second straight win with a 6-1 decision over Fairfield at the Fairfield Tennis Courts. Viebrock won twice on the day and moved into a two-way tie with Mary Wilson '10 for eighth place on the all-time wins list at Quinnipiac.

The Bobcats, now winners in three of their last for matches, improved to 7-5 on the season and two games over .500 for the first time since February. Credit Quinnipiac's stellar play at doubles for its recent surge, as the Bobcats have now earned the first point in four straight matches.

Viebrock and Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) took care of business at No. 1 doubles with their 41st career win when playing together, followed by two comfortable wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, N.J.) and Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) swept Carolina Koladzyn and Tori Pirrello, 8-0, at No. 2, while Ariana Launie (Milton, Mass.) and Erin Suvar (North Massapequa, N.Y.) topped Sharissa Ryan and Nikke Jackson, 8-1, at No. 3.

Needing just three points to claim the victory, Quinnipiac won five of the six matches in the singles segment for the five point triumph. Raynor earned her 60th career win with a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Ryan at No. 2; Viebrock defeated Allison Radde, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3; Dassa won her 60th career match over Koladzyn, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4; Launie collected career win No. 52 with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 5; and Suvar outlasted Emma Samson in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 10-6, for her 17th career win at No. 6.
