WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac University women's tennis team wrapped up competition in the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y. Senior Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) was the lone qualifier for the Bobcats in the Main Singles Draw.
Cantor squared off against Marcela Rosales of Drexel University in the round of 128 of the bottom bracket. In a three-set thriller, Cantor was upended 6-0, 6-7 (3), 7-5, and eliminated from the tournament. Cantor was in search of her 106th career victory, and remains just two wins shy of #12 on the all-time list.
The USTA/ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete at one of the 87 USTA/ITA Regional Championships held across the country.
The Bobcats have now concluded competition for the year, and won't return to the court until February of 2013.
