HAMDEN,
Conn. - Juliet Labarthe (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Sarah Viebrock
(Carmel, N.Y.) earned double wins as the Quinnipiac University
women's tennis team defeated Hofstra, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon on the
Quinnipiac Outdoor Tennis Courts. With the win, the Bobcats improve
to 6-6, while the Pride fall to 6-4.
Women's Tennis Defeats Hofstra, 4-3
Labarthe extended her singles winning streak to nine consecutive matches with a 6-2, 6-1, victory against Lauren Clifton at No. 3. She also paired with Viebrock to defeat Clifton and Christie Gattelaro, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles. Viebrock completed her double win with a 6-4, 6-3, win against Gattelaro.
Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) also tallied singles victories to clinch the match for the Bobcats. Cantor defeated Elena Ivanova, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1 singles, while Markison got past Malissa Gilnachi, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
The Bobcats return to action Thursday, when they play host to the University of Hartford. First serve from the Quinnipiac Tennis Courts is scheduled for 3 p.m.
