Women's Tennis Defeats Marist, 6-1

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Quinnipiac's Juliet Labarthe (Oklahoma City, Okla.), Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.), Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) and Lavinia Cristescu (West Hartford, Conn.) were all double winners as the Bobcats women's tennis team defeated Marist, 6-1, Saturday evening. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 2-4 on the season, while the Red Foxes fall to 3-3.

Labarthe paired with Viebrock to defeat Erin McCarthy and Retta Byron, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles, before getting past Joana Sun, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 3 singles. Viebrock completed her double win with a 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9), victory against Marielle Campbell.

Steinert and Cristescu combined on an 8-4 victory against Campbell and Kayla O'Donovan at No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Bobcats. Steinert went on to a 6-1, 7-5, victory against Jeannie Lukin at No. 5 singles, while Cristescu breezed past Byron, 6-0, 6-2.

Also earning a singles win was Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.), who defeated McCarthy, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2.

The Bobcats return to action at West Point Saturday, March 12, when they take on Northern Iowa. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
