Juliet Labarthe Wins Quinnipiac Invitational Flight B Championship

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University freshman Juliet Labarthe (Oklahoma City, Okla.) won a pair of matches Sunday to win the Quinnipiac Invitational Flight B Singles Championship. With the two wins, Labarthe has now won 10 of her first 11 collegiate matches, including all four she's played in singles.

Labarthe defeated UConn's Alexa Gregory, 6-2, 1-6, 10-5, in the semifinals, before dominating Rhode Island's Kirsten Leikem, 6-0, 6-0, in the finals.

Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) and Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) also took the court Sunday, with both falling in the semifinals of their respective flights. Markison was edged by Seton Hall's Pui Wing Sher, 6-1, 2-6, 10-5, in Flight A, while Viebrock fell to Leikem, 6-2, 6-4, in Flight B.

The Bobcats return to action Friday, when they take part in the Eastern Collegiates at Army. Matches are set to begin at 9 a.m.
