Adrienne Markison Named NEC Women's Tennis Player of the Month

HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University junior women's tennis player Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Month for February, the league office announced Tuesday. Markison went an undefeated 6-0 in leading the Bobcats to three victories in the month. The award is the first of Markison's career.

Markison went an undefeated 3-0 in singles matches out of the No. 3 position, while pairing with two different doubles partners to also go 3-0 in doubles. She began the month with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Fordham's Bethany Boyle, while pairing with Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa./Greater Latrobe) to defeat Martina Featherston and Sarah Tremaine, 8-1, at No. 1 doubles. Again pairing with Wilson at No. 1 doubles, Markison defeated Villanova's Carla Erskine and Allison Solberg, 8-0, before earning a No. 3 singles victory over Alexandra Harding, 6-1, 6-3.

Finally, Markison paired with Shawna Sarson at No. 2 doubles to defeat Hartford's Nicole Haynal and Kaitlin Lennon, 8-2, before making quick work of Haynal at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0. For the season, Markison is 8-1 in singles and 17-6 overall.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when they travel to West Point, N.Y., to take on Army. Matches are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
