HAMDEN, Conn. - All six players in the Quinnipiac University women's tennis line-up were double winners as the Bobcats swept Fordham, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Indoor Tennis Courts. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 2-0, while the Rams fall to 0-7.
Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.) and Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) earned an 8-1 No. 1 doubles victory over Martina Featherston and Sarah Tremaine. Wilson then defeated Tremaine, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, while Markison blanked Bethany Boyle, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.
Freshmen Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) paired to defeat Boyle and Taylor Holt, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles. Cantor then beat Featherston, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, while Viebrock made quick work of Brittany Russell, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) and Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) combined to outlast Russell and Jennifer Mullen, 9-7, at No. 3 doubles. Steinert then defeated Holt, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 singles, while Duckor scored a 6-1, 6-1, victory over Mullen at No. 5 singles.
The Bobcats return to action Monday at 4 p.m., when they welcome Villanova to the Quinnipiac Indoor Tennis Courts.
