Three Women's Tennis Duos Advance To Quinnipiac Invitational Doubles Semifinals
HAMDEN, Conn. - Three Bobcats doubles tandems each earned a pair of doubles victories Friday to advance to the Quinnipiac Invitational Semifinals in Day 1 action. Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.) and Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.), as well as Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) and Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) advanced to the A Flight Semifinals, while Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) and Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) marched on to the B Flight Semifinals.
Wilson and Cantor defeated Army's Annie Hang and Audrey Hansen, 8-5, before taking care of Kate Donnelly and Rebecca McMullen of Sacred Heart, 8-2. Meanwhile, Markison and Viebrock beat Fordham's Martina Featherston and Sarah Tremaine, 8-4, before marching past Army's Jessica Ahn and Paige Ford, 8-3, to reach the semifinals.
Steinert and Duckor defeated duos from Rhode Island and Sacred Heart en route to the semifinals. The Bobcats' duo beat the Rams' Michelle Dussol and Jenna Williams, 8-3, before edging the Pioneers' Delaney Downing and Ashley Amalfe, 8-6.
The Bobcats continue Quinnipiac Invitational action Saturday morning, when singles play commences. Matches are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
