Women's Tennis Falls To Massachusetts, 5-2

HAMDEN, Conn. – Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.) earned a double win and Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) won at No. 3 singles, but the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team fell to Massachusetts, 5-2, Sunday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Outdoor Tennis Counts. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 6-9, while the Minutewomen improve to 9-11.

While her doubles partner, Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.), missed the match due to illness, Wilson didn't miss a beat in pairing with freshman Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.), to defeat Kaitlyn Carpenter and Tanisha Hodgson, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles. Wilson then beat Candynce Boney, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1 singles.

Steinert defeated Hodgson, 6-4, 1-6, 10-8, at No. 3 singles, playing up a flight in the lineup due to Markison's illness.

The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa., to face Villanova. Matches are set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
