Women's Tennis Sweeps Bryant In Home Opener, 7-0

HAMDEN, Conn. – Five Bobcats earned double wins as the Quinnipiac women's tennis team won its home opener, 7-0, Saturday afternoon against Bryant. Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.), Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.), Natalie Duckor (Tustin, Calif.), Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) and Nicole Adams (New Windsor, N.Y.) all earned double wins as the Bobcats evened their record at 1-1 for the season. Kasey Rosenberger (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Shawna Sarson (Albany, N.Y.) also earned wins for the Bobcats.

Wilson paired with Markison to defeat Morganne Downing and Katharine Francazio, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles before winning against Downing at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Markison took care of Francazio, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.

Duckor and Steinert combined to defeat Valeria Couto Cuervo and Dana Tausek, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles. Duckor also defeated Mandi Granville, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 singles, while Steinert beat Tausek, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4.

Adams teamed with Rosenberger to defeat Granville and Martha Chapman, 8-0, before taking down Kate McCabe, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6 singles. Sarson, playing in the No. 5 singles position, defeated Talia Aviani, 6-1, 6-0, to round out the sweep.

The Bobcats return to action, Feb. 14, when they play host to Hofstra. Matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
