Duckor, Loewenstein Win Consolation Titles At Eastern Collegiates

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Freshmen Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) and Carly Loewenstein (Armonk, N.Y.) won the consolation brackets of the 1st and 4th singles brackets, respectively, at the Eastern Collegiates, Saturday. Duckor defeated players from Seton Hall, Fairleigh Dickinson and Niagara to take her title, while Loewenstein earned wins against players representing Long Island, Pittsburgh and Massachusetts.

Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany), the only Bobcat left playing in the main draw Saturday, was defeated in the quarterfinals by Seton Hall's Elizabeth Verow 6-2, 6-1.

Nicole Adams (New Windsor, N.Y.) advanced to the semifinals of the 3rd Singles consolation bracket with a win against Lehigh's Stacy Reich, but fell to Tanisha Hodgson of Massachusetts. Shawna Sarson (Albany, N.Y.) beat Siena's Molly Scullin and Stony Brook's Emily Gevins before being defeated by Mellana Cramer of Massachusetts in the semifinals of the 4th Singles consolation bracket.
