Edison, N.J. – After a game in which she had four points freshman Jessica Fontaine (Enfield, Conn.) has been named the MAAC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, announced Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 by the league's office. Fontaine was a key contributor in the Bobcats first win as a member of the MAAC. Fontaine finished the day on Saturday with a goal and two assists as the Bobcats opened conference play with a 3-0 win over Saint Peter's.
Fontaine has been a key part of the Bobcat offense so far this season. She leads the team in points, assists, shots, and goals on the young season. She has six points on two goals and two assists.
Fontaine is no stranger to the spotlight after an incredible high school career in Connecticut. She led her high school, Northwest Catholic, to a 38-0-2 record and a number one ranking in her final two seasons. She was a three time state champion, 2012 CJSA Female & NSCAA Connecticut High School Player of the Year, 2009 & 2012 Connecticut State Championship Most Valuable Player, a 2011 & 2012 Gatorade Player of the Year Candidate, the 2012 Hart ford Courant & CGSCA Player of the Year, a two-time NCSAA All-American & All-New England, and was three-time All-State & All-Hartford Courant.
The Bobcats are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 25 when they host their first MAAC game. Quinnipiac welcomes Siena for a 3 p.m. start at the QU Soccer Field on Mount Carmel Campus.
