HAMDEN, Conn. – Shauna Edwards (Southington, Conn.) recently added to her list of hardware with another accolade, as the senior defender was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Northeast Region Second Team, announced on Monday, December 3, 2012 by coaches around the area. Edwards concluded one of the finest careers in program history with a tremendous season in her final year of eligibility.
Primarily in a midfield or defensive role, Edwards still managed to lead the team with eight points at the strength of two goals and four assists on the season. She particularly came on strong at the end of the campaign where she registered six points in the final six games. As the team made its final push towards the NEC Tournament, Edwards found the back of the net when it mattered most including a goal in the 2-1 triumph over Robert Morris in the second-to-last game of the season. Edwards was Coach Clarke's most ambitious attacker, registering a team-high 28 shots on the year – eight more than any other Bobcat.
The season concluded a remarkable career with the Bobcats' women's soccer program. During her four-year stint, she recorded 59 appearances, most of them in a starting role, scored eight goals and added 10 assists for a total of 26 points. She was a two-time Northeast Conference First Team representative.
