Hamden, Conn. - Senior goalkeeper Jill Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) of the women's soccer team was named the College Sport Madness Conference Player of the Week, announced on Monday, August 27, 2012 by College Sports Madness.com. Kelley played an exceptional role in the Bobcats victory over BIG EAST rival Providence College in their season-opener this past weekend.
Kelley had five saves in 90 minutes of action against the Friars to preserve her first shutout of the season. In her final season in Bobcats' uniform, Kelley collected the 11th shutout of her career in the triumph. With her five saves, Kelley moved into fourth place all-time in Quinnipiac's record-book. Furthermore, she now has 19 career wins, moving her into sole possession of fifth place all-time.
The Bobcats will return to action Friday August 31, when they take on University of Vermont in a non-conference match-up. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on the QU Soccer Field.
