Women's Soccer Assistant Coach Steve Coxon Inducted Into Connecticut Soccer Hall Of Fame

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach Steve Coxon was inducted into the Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame. The 14th Annual Induction will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Marriot Hotel in Farmington, Conn. at 5:30 p.m.

Coxon, who is in his sixth season with Quinnipiac, is one of seven members of the 2012 inductees after leading an impressive soccer career. "I am delighted to receive this award,” said Coxon. “I have been playing and coaching in the state for 24 years now and it’s an honor to be in the Hall of Fame with many of my friends and colleagues."

Coxon, was a two-time All-New England recipient at Central Connecticut State University during the 1988 and 1989 seasons and was selected to the New England College 1989 ‘All Star Bowl.’ After playing for the Blue Devils, Coxon played professionally with the CT Wolves of USISL between 1993-99.

In addition to playing, Coxon has garnered years of coaching experience. After working as an assistant coach at the University of New Haven during 1997-99, Coxon coached at Farmington High School where he led the girls’ soccer program to two state championships in 2003 and 2005, while also being named CJSA Coach of the Year in 2003 and Girls High School Coach of the Year in 2004. Coxon joined the Bobcats coaching staff in 2006, where he has been an integral part in developing players and growing the program alongside head coach Dave Clarke.

Coxon is also the co-founder of the Connecticut Football Club (CFC), which is one of the largest youth soccer clubs in Connecticut, and co-owner of the CFC Arena in Hamden. Coxon also founded Soccerhead.com, a soccer website for information and recruiting services. Most recently, Coxon became the President of CFC Azul, a team in the Professional Developmental League.
